What Will You Do as a Boiler Operator?
Your main task is to operate the boiler safely and efficiently to make sure steam production runs smoothly. This is important for the overall success of the site’s operations. You will follow all safety standards and company procedures to keep the boilers working well and the workplace safe.
Your daily duties will include:
- Running the boiler following the steps in the operating manual and checklists.
- Doing a pre-shift inspection of the boiler to check everything is in good order.
- Taking pressure readings and recording them accurately in log sheets.
- Testing the water quality to make sure it meets safety and performance standards.
- Keeping the work area and equipment clean at all times.
- Following all Occupational Health and Safety rules carefully.
What Education and Experience Do You Need?
- A minimum of Grade 10 education.
- A valid boiler operator certificate.
- At least 3 years of experience working with boilers.
- Experience working in an animal feed manufacturing environment is a bonus but not required.
What Skills and Knowledge Will Help You?
- Strong knowledge of how boilers work and how to operate them.
- Mechanical skills to help with routine checks and minor maintenance.
- Understanding of health and safety regulations related to boiler operation.
- Ability to correctly complete and maintain log sheets as required by law.
