The Skills Development Corporation (SDC) is calling on all motivated and passionate individuals to apply for their 2025 Learnership Programme. These learnerships are available in Johannesburg and Cape Town. About the SDC Learnership Programme

The SDC Learnership Programme is designed to help young South Africans grow their skills and become more employable. It also assists businesses in meeting their B-BBEE Skills Development goals.

Through this programme, you will receive accredited training that combines theory with practical, on-the-job experience. By the time you complete your learnership, you’ll have a recognized qualification, workplace experience, and improved chances of finding a permanent job.

These learnerships are also a way to promote inclusivity and empowerment, especially for people living with disabilities.


Who Can Apply? (Minimum Requirements)

To be considered for the SDC Learnership, you must meet these basic requirements:

  • Be a South African citizen with a valid ID
  • Have a Matric certificate or higher qualification
  • Be unemployed or underemployed
  • Have no criminal record
  • If you have a disability, you must provide a valid medical certificate as per the Employment Equity Act

What You’ll Be Expected to Do

If you are selected for the programme, you will need to:

  • Attend all classes and workplace training sessions
  • Complete all assignments, tests, and tasks on time
  • Stay professional, disciplined, and punctual
  • Actively participate and show commitment
  • Sign and follow the rules of the learnership contract

Key Skills That Will Help You Succeed

While no previous experience is needed, having these qualities will help you succeed:

  • A willingness to learn and adapt
  • Good communication skills (spoken and written)
  • Ability to work well in a team and independently
  • A positive attitude, even when things get tough
  • Basic computer knowledge (this is an added advantage)

How to Apply for the SDC Learnership 2025

The application process has several steps. It’s important to follow each one carefully:

Step 1: Online Registration

  • Visit the SDC Student Hub and submit your details online.
  • There are separate portals for abled and disabled applicants for both Johannesburg and Cape Town.

Step 2: Submit Your Documents in Person
Take the following original and certified documents to the SDC campus closest to you:

  • Certified copy of your ID
  • Certified copy of your highest qualification
  • Proof of residence
  • Updated CV
  • Medical proof of disability (if applicable)
  • 3-month recent bank statement
  • Your SARS tax number

Step 3: Document Validation
SDC will check all your documents to make sure they are correct and valid.

Step 4: Interview Stage
If you are shortlisted, you will attend an interview to check your communication skills and suitability.

Step 5: Assessment Test
You must score at least 80% on this test to move forward in the process.

Step 6: Final Validation
Once you pass, your details will be added to the approved applicant database.

Step 7: Learnership Placement
You’ll be placed in a programme based on client demand. After this, you will sign your learnership contract and begin your training journey.
