About the Role

The Farm Assistant: Facilities plays a vital role in supporting daily farm operations at the ARC-TSC unit. The role is designed for individuals who are hardworking, skilled in practical farm work, and able to follow instructions from farm management or researchers.

As a Farm Assistant, you will help ensure the smooth running of the farm by performing tasks related to general farm maintenance, equipment use, and agricultural practices.

Key Responsibilities

The main duties for this position include:

• Carrying out farm practices as directed by farm management or researchers.
• Operating and maintaining tools and equipment provided for farm activities.
• Completing manual tasks assigned by supervisors.
• Following occupational health and safety guidelines, including the proper use of protective clothing.
• Supporting any other farm operations to ensure efficient workflow and productivity.

This role is essential in maintaining the overall functionality and safety of the farm, allowing researchers and management to focus on strategic tasks.

Requirements

To be considered for the Farm Assistant role, applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Grade 10 qualification with at least 2 years’ experience or exposure to a fruit farming environment.
• Basic understanding of agricultural practices.
• Familiarity with manual operation of farm equipment and machinery.
• Experience in the construction industry (plumbing, carpentry, building, etc.) is an added advantage.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong understanding of health and safety procedures.
• Willingness to work under adverse weather conditions.
