What Will You Do?

Your main job is to make sure that all deliveries are made smoothly, safely, and on time. Here’s what you’ll be responsible for:

• Providing excellent customer service—greeting customers with a positive attitude and assisting with deliveries.
• Completing daily trip sheets, including noting your starting and ending kilometers and recording departure and arrival times.
• Carrying out pre-trip inspections on your vehicle each day to check if everything is working properly. Any defects? Report them immediately to your supervisor.
• Making sure your truck and any helpers stay together during trips, so deliveries aren’t delayed.
• Planning the most efficient route to get to your customers quickly and safely.
• Ensuring all stock is properly documented before loading, including signing transfer logs and handover receipts.
• Delivering goods in excellent condition, making sure nothing is damaged during transit.
• Keeping accurate records in your logbook for every delivery, including signing off at each branch.
• Completing weekly reports and handing them in to your supervisor.
• Reporting delays or problems at branches so issues can be fixed fast.
• Participating in regular stock audits to keep our inventory up to date.
• Performing other work-related tasks given by your supervisor to help the team succeed.

What Qualifications and Skills Do You Need?

Brights Hardware wants drivers who are reliable and can handle a busy schedule. Here’s what you need to apply:

• Matric or an equivalent qualification.
• If you don’t have Matric, but you have a valid driver’s license and at least 3 years’ driving experience, you’re still welcome to apply.
• At least 1 year of driving experience in a similar role.
• A Code 8 driver’s license (a higher code license is an advantage).
• A PDP (Public Driving Permit) for Goods and Passengers.
• Ability to stay calm under pressure, especially during busy times.
• Good monitoring skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent customer service skills—friendly, helpful, and professional.
• Ability to read and communicate effectively at a high level.
• Understanding how to load and unload vehicles properly.
• Good planning, time management, and organization skills.
