What You’ll Be Doing Every Day
As a General Assistant, you’ll be an important part of the team. You’ll be helping customers directly, keeping stock organized, and making sure the loading area stays clean and efficient. Your work will help the store run smoothly and make sure customers keep coming back.
Here’s what your daily tasks will include:
- Loading customers’ vehicles with products they’ve purchased
- Loading and unloading trucks for deliveries and transfers
- Stacking and counting stock properly to avoid mistakes
- Helping to prepare stock for transfers between stores
- Reporting any shortages or breakages to your supervisor
- Keeping your work area clean and tidy
- Assisting customers with friendly service and basic product knowledge
- Bagging sand and stone products when needed
- Taking part in regular stocktakes to make sure inventory is correct
- Following any extra instructions from your supervisor
Your job is to make sure everything in the yard runs smoothly – from loading to cleanliness to keeping customers happy.
What You Need to Qualify
This isn’t a job that requires a fancy degree – just the right attitude and some basic skills.
Here’s what we’re looking for:
- A Matric / Grade 12 certificate or equivalent
- At least 1 year of experience in a similar job (preferred but not required)
- Good customer service and people skills
- Ability to count stock correctly
- Able to work on your own and in a team
- Someone who is reliable, disciplined, and motivated
- Able to stay calm and focused, even under pressure
- Comfortable with physical tasks – you’ll be lifting and moving things regularly
- Able to speak and understand English clearly
