Cementation Africa Training Academy invites suitably qualified applicants to apply for the Occupational Health, Safety and Environment (H&SE) NQF Level 2 Learnership Programme for 2025. It is also open to candidates referred by a Cementation Africa employee, making it a trusted and professional entry into one of the most respected mining and construction training environments in Africa.


About the H&SE Learnership Programme

The Cementation Africa Training Academy has developed this learnership to provide learners with essential skills and knowledge in Occupational Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE). It is a recognized NQF Level 2 qualification, designed to help participants understand the importance of workplace safety and environmental responsibility.

This six-month programme will teach learners how to work safely in any type of workplace, particularly in industries where safety is crucial, such as mining and construction. Participants will gain both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience that will prepare them for future employment.

By the end of the programme, learners will be able to:

  • Identify and evaluate potential workplace safety and environmental hazards.
  • Promote and maintain a culture of health and safety within an organization.
  • Perform essential health and safety measurements and procedures.
  • Show independence, responsibility, and confidence in managing workplace safety issues.

This learnership is a gateway to a career in Occupational Health, Safety, and Environment—a growing field that plays a critical role in protecting workers and the environment.


Duration

The learnership runs over a six (6) month period, during which learners will receive both classroom instruction and practical workplace experience.


Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this opportunity, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Education: Grade 10 or 11 (must provide a stamped school report card).
    • Having Grade 12 will be an added advantage.
  • Must be unemployed at the time of applying.
  • Must be a South African citizen.
  • Must have good communication skills in English (both written and verbal).
  • Must be medically fit to work in a mining underground environment.
  • Must have no criminal record.
  • Female candidates must not be pregnant to ensure safety in training conditions.
  • Must comply with Cementation Africa’s ZERO tolerance policy on alcohol and illegal substances. Testing will be conducted during onboarding and randomly during the programme.
  • Must be able to travel at your own cost to and from the Training Academy in Carletonville every second week.
  • Must not be registered for any other learnership programme.
