Who Can Apply? (Minimum Requirements)

You can apply if:

  • You are a South African citizen
  • You have completed Matric (Grade 12) or have an NQF Level 4 qualification
  • You know basic computer skills (typing or using Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.)
  • You can capture and collect data
  • You can work both independently and as part of a team
  • You are registered on the ESP (Expanded Social Package) database

Note: If you’re not yet registered on ESP, visit your nearest City of Joburg customer center to register.


It’s a Bonus If You Have Experience In:

Even though you don’t need experience to apply, it will help your chances if you have worked in or have an interest in:


  • Community work
  • Assisting displaced people or migrants
  • Working with youth, women, people with disabilities, or child-headed households
  • Helping people recover from substance abuse

Tasks You Might Be Doing:

This is not an office job only. Some of your duties could include:

  • Joining door-to-door campaigns
  • Taking part in community operations
  • Helping with field services
  • Carrying and packing stock
  • Doing some cleaning work
  • Participating in awareness programs

Helpful Certificates (Optional but Advantageous):
