As a Bus Driver for the City of Tshwane, your main responsibility will be to ensure the safe and efficient transportation of passengers and commuters using the city’s public transport system. This role requires adherence to strict traffic laws and route schedules, along with maintaining high levels of professionalism and passenger safety.

Application Requirements

To qualify for this opportunity, candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Educational Qualification: Grade 10
  • Driving Experience: Experience driving heavy vehicles
  • Driver’s Licence: A valid Code C, EC1(04), EC, or C1(04) driving licence
  • Professional Driving Permit (PrDP): Required

  • Criminal Record: None
  • Physical Fitness: Good health and physical ability
  • Work Hours: Willingness to work shifts and overtime

Primary Responsibilities

The selected Bus Driver will perform a range of tasks to ensure seamless public transport operations. These include:

Safe Passenger Transportation: Ensure passengers reach their destination safely.

Automated Fare Collection (AFC) System Management: Monitor and manage passenger entries and exits using the AFC system to ensure accurate fare collection.

Route Management: Follow pre-designated routes or adjust based on instructions from supervisors.

Traffic Compliance: Strictly adhere to the National Road Traffic Act, 1996 (Act 93 of 1996) and all applicable traffic laws.

Special Duties: Undertake special assignments as required by the municipality.
