About the Role

As a Shop Assistant / Cashier at Clicks, you will be responsible for providing excellent customer service, handling payments accurately, and ensuring smooth store operations. You will act as a brand ambassador, helping customers find products, promoting loyalty programs, and creating a friendly shopping experience that keeps customers coming back.

This role is perfect for individuals who enjoy interacting with people, working in a fast-paced retail environment, and contributing to the success of the store through efficient operations and excellent customer care.

Key Responsibilities

Your daily tasks will include:

  • Executing all operational activities at the point of sale (POS) efficiently.
  • Scanning merchandise accurately and collecting payments while handling cash safely.
  • Promoting the Clicks clubcard program and enrolling new members to meet participation targets.
  • Making customers aware of promotions and offers to boost sales.
  • Delivering superior customer service by being visible, approachable, and professional.
  • Maintaining merchandising and store housekeeping standards.
  • Keeping up to date with product knowledge, ranges, promotions, and events to inform customers accurately.

Knowledge Required

  • Basic maths for transactions and calculations.
  • Understanding of retail/FMCG operations, merchandising, and promotions.
  • Knowledge of stock management procedures.
  • Strong focus on customer service excellence.

  • Excellent planning and organizing skills.
  • Strong problem-solving ability.
  • Customer-oriented mindset with good communication skills.
  • Computer literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions and procedures.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 (Matric certificate) is essential.
  • Maths and English at 50% or higher at Grade 12 level are desirable.
  • Previous experience in customer-facing retail or FMCG roles is advantageous.
