The South African Department of Health is on a mission to reduce malaria cases, and they need 355 Temporary Malaria Spray Operators to get the job done. These operators will be working across various locations, focusing on areas prone to malaria outbreaks. Your main job will be to spray insecticides indoors, protecting people from the mosquitoes that carry malaria. It might be a temporary job, but it’s a vital one that saves lives.

You’ll be paid a daily stipend of R310.00 for 132 days of work. That’s a great chance to earn while doing something meaningful!

Why You’re Needed

Malaria Spray Operators are essential in the fight against malaria. The work you’ll do involves spraying homes and community buildings with insecticides. This kills the mosquitoes that spread the disease, which is a huge help in keeping communities safe.   • Vhembe District: 160 Positions
    • Malamulele, Mavambe, Tlangelani, Mhinga, Tshimbupfe, and more
  • Waterberg District: 12 Positions
    • Witpoort
  • Sekhukhune District: 5 Positions
    • Naboomkoppies
  • Capricorn District: 13 Positions
    • Ratshaatshaa (Eldorado)

What You’ll Do as a Malaria Spray Operator

As a Malaria Spray Operator, your job will include several important tasks:

  • Mixing insecticides and preparing them for use.
  • Loading and unloading materials at malaria stations.
  • Spraying insecticides inside homes to eliminate malaria-carrying mosquitoes.
  • Helping move furniture or belongings in homes before spraying.
  • Keeping records of the homes you spray and filling out necessary forms.
  • Performing surveillance and collecting data to monitor the environment.
  • Cleaning malaria stations, including the vehicles, spray cans, and the area around the buildings.

Your work will help protect families and communities from malaria. Every day on the job, you’ll know you’re making a positive impact.

What You Need to Qualify

  • Education: You’ll need a Grade 12 certificate or something equal to that (NQF level 4).
  • Skills: Basic reading, writing, and math skills are required. You should also be physically fit since you’ll be carrying spray equipment and working with chemicals.
  • Physical Ability: You must be fit enough to carry out the spraying and sometimes treat water bodies.

Who Shouldn’t Apply?

  • Pregnant or breastfeeding women should not apply for this position. Since you’ll be working with chemicals, this job could be harmful during pregnancy or breastfeeding. The Department will conduct pregnancy tests before and during your employment to ensure your safety.

Successful incumbent will be expected to sign a performance agreement within one month after assumption of duty.

All shortlisted candidates will be subjected to a security clearance and verification of qualifications.
