Dis-Chem Hiring Casual Cashiers – No Degree Needed!

Dis-Chem Pharmacies Invites Suitably Qualified Applicants to Apply for Their Casual Cashier Vacancies. The Closing Date for Applications is 27 July 2025

Looking for a job where you can earn, learn, and grow—without needing a degree? Then don’t miss out! Dis-Chem Pharmacies is on the hunt for friendly, hardworking individuals to join their team as Casual Cashiers at their Kyalami Corner stores. Whether you’re looking for a part-time job, your first work experience, or a chance to grow into retail, this is the perfect opportunity.

Dis-Chem is creating a Talent Pool, which means they’re looking for people who can fill jobs in the near future. Even if there’s no open slot today, your application puts you on the radar for upcoming roles. And with South Africa’s job market being so competitive, that kind of head start is worth grabbing.

What This Job Is All About

As a Casual Cashier, your job is simple but very important—you’ll be helping customers at the till, making sure everything runs smoothly and every customer leaves with a smile. You’ll process payments, return items, and help answer any questions customers might have.

This isn’t just a cashier job. It’s the start of something bigger. Dis-Chem wants people who can grow with the company.

What You’ll Be Doing Daily

Here’s a quick look at what your day might look like:

  • Helping customers with their purchases at the till
  • Processing payments (cash, cards, coupons, rewards points, etc.)
  • Making sure the cash in your till is always right
  • Handling returns and exchanges, when approved
  • Reporting any issues or compliments from customers
  • Keeping an eye out for suspicious activity and alerting management
  • Sticking to company rules and working as part of a team
  • Scanning all products carefully and making sure nothing is missed

You’ll also work with Dis-Chem’s rewards systems (like Discovery Health and eBucks), so being quick to learn and follow instructions is key.

Who Can Apply?

You MUST have:

  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • At least 6 months’ experience using a till or working as a cashier
  • Basic computer skills (MS Office)
  • Good English speaking and writing skills
  • Friendly and helpful personality
  • Willingness to work retail hours, including weekends and holidays

It helps if you also have:

  • A third language
  • Good with numbers
  • A calm, professional attitude
  • Fast problem-solving skills
  • A sharp eye for detail
  • A trustworthy, honest personality

What You’ll Get in Return

Dis-Chem offers a market-related salary and the chance to be part of one of South Africa’s top retail pharmacy brands. While being in the talent pool doesn’t mean you’ll get the job immediately, it does mean you’re first in line when a position becomes available.

This is your foot in the door.

Some Rules You Should Know

To work here, you need to:

  • Be a South African citizen
  • Live near the store or have your own transport
  • Have clear credit and criminal records
  • Be reliable and willing to work flexible hours

Dis-Chem supports employment equity and transformation. They especially encourage people with disabilities to apply.

Why This Matters for You

Jobs are hard to come by, and ones with real growth potential are even rarer. Dis-Chem offers a chance to work for a company that values its employees, pays fairly, and gives you room to grow. If you’re someone who shows up, works hard, and treats people well, this could be your big break.

So don’t wait. Apply before 27 July 2025 and step into a job that could open many doors.
