What is the Dis-Chem Retail Cosmetics Learnership?

This is a 12-month training programme where you’ll work and learn at the same time. It’s designed to help you build the right skills for a future in retail, especially in beauty and cosmetics. You’ll learn how to serve customers, manage stock, handle products correctly, and even give makeovers and product demos.

Whether you want to work as a beauty advisor, in customer service, or move up the retail ladder, this learnership is a great way to get started.

Who Can Apply?

To qualify, you need to:

• Have completed Matric / Grade 12
• Be willing to work flexible retail hours (weekends, holidays, etc.)
• Know how to use a computer (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)

Bonus if you have:

• Experience working in beauty or cosmetics (but it’s not a must)

What Will You Be Doing?

As part of this learnership, you’ll be doing real work at a Dis-Chem store. Here’s what to expect:

🧴 Stock Control

• Make sure shelves are always full and tidy
• Check expiry dates and report anything that’s old or damaged
• Keep the backroom neat and organized
• Restock products when needed
• Help with stock counts

💄 Merchandising & Displays

• Make the store look amazing with clean and attractive displays
• Set up beauty promotions like spray demos or mini makeovers
• Label products with the correct prices
• Work towards sales targets by helping customers find what they need

😊 Customer Service

• Be friendly, helpful, and respectful to all customers
• Give honest advice about products without pushing them to buy
• Handle sales and payments at the cash register
• Answer customer questions and help them solve problems
