About the Role
As a Casual Frontshop Assistant, you will be responsible for maintaining the merchandising standards of the store while supporting excellent customer service at point of sale. This role requires attention to detail, efficiency in handling stock, and the ability to assist customers in a friendly, professional manner.
Minimum Requirements
✅ Essential
- Grade 12 / Matric certificate
- 0 – 6 months retail work experience
✅ Advantageous
- 1 year experience within retail
- Retail Business Management certificate
Key Responsibilities
In this role, your daily tasks will include:
- Ensuring shelves are always stocked, neat, and up to date.
- Checking product expiry dates and reporting expired/damaged stock.
- Restocking merchandise and monitoring stock levels.
- Handling customer queries and assisting with product knowledge.
- Processing sales transactions (cash, card, vouchers, loyalty cards).
- Managing returns and exchanges with authorisation.
- Assisting with stocktaking and storeroom organisation.
- Reporting price discrepancies, low stock, and suspicious behaviour.
- Providing friendly, helpful customer service.
- Following health, safety, and company SOPs.
Competencies & Skills
Essential:
- Knowledge of retail operations and administration.
- Strong problem-solving ability and communication skills.
- Basic math skills for transactions.
- Ability to work under minimal supervision.
- Customer service–oriented mindset.
Advantageous:
- Basic computer literacy (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Experience with SAP systems.
Special Conditions of Employment
- Must be able to work retail hours (including weekends & public holidays).
- South African citizenship required.
- Clear criminal record & credit check.
- Driver’s license and own reliable transport an advantage.
