✅ Minimum Requirements
Essential:
- Grade 12 / Senior Certificate (Matric)
- Grade C PSIRA Accreditation
- Minimum of 3 years’ general experience in the retail sector (e.g. shopping malls, warehouses)
- Must be a South African citizen
- No criminal record (MIE, credit, and background checks will apply)
Advantageous:
- At least 1 year of direct experience in a similar security role
- Driver’s License and PDP (if applicable for driver security roles)
- Ability to speak a third language (beneficial but not mandatory)
📝 Job Responsibilities
As a Dis-Chem Security Guard, you’ll be expected to:
- Provide on-site security services in line with PSIRA regulations and company policies
- Patrol premises regularly, monitor surveillance systems, and prevent unauthorized access
- Control access for visitors, staff, and vehicles – including searching when necessary
- Monitor for and report suspicious activity, theft, or disorderly conduct
- Respond to emergencies, including fire, theft, or safety violations
- Assist in opening and closing procedures
- Complete occurrence books and reports
- Ensure all assets, staff, and customers are safe and secure
- Follow standard operating procedures during crises (armed robbery, fire, evacuation, etc.)
- Act professionally and courteously at all times when dealing with customers and staff
