Eskom Opens 2025 Plant Operator Learnerships — 20 Positions Available at Lethabo Power Station

Eskom, South Africa’s leading power utility, invites unemployed South African youth to apply for its 2025 Learner Plant Operator Apprenticeship Programme. About the Eskom Learner Plant Operator Programme 2025

Eskom’s Generation Division is offering 20 learnership positions for motivated and dedicated young people who want to train as Plant Operators. The programme is based within the Human Resources Department at Lethabo Power Station and gives learners both classroom training and on-the-job experience in the Operating Department.

Through this programme, successful candidates will be trained to handle the daily operations of power generation equipment safely and efficiently. You’ll learn how South Africa’s electricity generation systems work and gain essential knowledge to build a future career in the energy and engineering fields.

Eskom has designed this learnership to prepare participants for skilled roles in its operations. The company is not only offering training but also creating opportunities for young South Africans to become part of a growing workforce that helps power the nation.


Minimum Requirements to Apply

Applicants must meet one of the following qualification options to be eligible for this learnership:

Option 1: Grade 12 (Matric) with:

  • Mathematics (minimum 50%)
  • Physical Science (minimum 50%)
  • English (minimum 40%)

Option 2: N3 Certificate with:

  • Mathematics (minimum 50%)
  • Science (minimum 50%)
  • English (minimum 40%)

Option 3: NCV Level 4 with:

  • Mathematics (minimum 50%)
  • Science (minimum 50%)
  • English (minimum 40%)

Option 4: National N4/N5 Certificate with Trade Subjects
Option 5: National N6 Certificate with Trade Subjects
Option 6: National Diploma, BTech, BEng, or BSc Engineering in a relevant field

Experience:

  • No previous work experience is required.
  • Applicants must be South African citizens.
  • Shortlisted candidates will go through a selection and recruitment process before being placed at Eskom Operations.
