Eskom invites young and passionate South Africans to apply for their Youth Employment Service (YES) Learnership 2025 opportunities. This program offers unemployed youth a chance to gain real work experience in South Africa’s growing energy industry. Applications close on 30 October 2025, so if you’ve been waiting for your big break, now is the time to take action.
The Youth Employment Service (YES) is a national initiative led by the South African Presidency and supported by several private companies, including Eskom. The main goal of this program is to fight youth unemployment and help young people gain valuable experience that can open doors to future jobs.
Eskom is one of South Africa’s largest energy providers, and through this program, it’s giving young people a chance to work in a professional environment while learning how one of the country’s biggest industries operates. The learnership is designed to give you that all-important “first job” experience that every employer looks for.
If you’ve finished school and are struggling to find work, this could be your chance to get your foot in the door and start building your career.
Successful applicants will join the Contact Centre Department at Eskom’s LimLanga Cluster in Emalahleni. You’ll work under a 12-month contract, gaining hands-on experience while learning important job skills.
During your time in the programme, you’ll get to understand how Eskom serves millions of South Africans through customer care and communication. You’ll also be exposed to Eskom’s values of integrity, professionalism, and customer focus — skills that will benefit you in any future career.
To be considered for this opportunity, applicants must meet the following basic requirements:
If you meet these requirements and are ready to work hard, Eskom is ready to welcome you into its team.
Eskom is looking for young people who take pride in their work and have the right attitude. Some of the key personal traits that will help you succeed in this programme include:
These traits are not just important for Eskom, but they’re valuable in any career path you choose.
The Eskom YES Learnership isn’t just a short-term job — it’s a stepping stone toward your future. You’ll get practical work experience, learn how a large company operates, and gain new skills that will make you more employable.
After the 12-month programme, you’ll have a stronger CV, better confidence, and the experience that many employers look for when hiring. Even if Eskom doesn’t hire you permanently afterward, this learnership can open many doors across different industries.
Eskom is proud to promote employment equity, diversity, and inclusion in the workplace. The company supports equal opportunities for all and encourages people with disabilities to apply. Preference may be given to candidates from underrepresented groups in line with Eskom’s employment equity goals.
Eskom also maintains a smoke-free working environment, showing its commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for everyone.
If this opportunity excites you, make sure to submit your application before 30 October 2025. Once you’ve applied, please note that if you haven’t heard back within 28 days after the closing date, your application was not successful.
For assistance with the application process, you can contact Eskom’s candidate support team via email at Candidate.support@ci.hr
This is more than just a learnership — it’s a chance to change your life. If you’re a young South African ready to take your first step into the working world, Eskom’s YES Learnership 2025 could be the opportunity that shapes your future.
