🚒 What You’ll Be Doing

Let’s keep it simple—your main job is to save lives and protect property. Here’s a breakdown of what your daily tasks might include:

• Responding to fires, car crashes, rescues, and other emergency calls
• Helping injured people by providing first aid and basic medical care
• Handling dangerous situations like gas leaks or chemical spills (Hazmat incidents)
• Driving and operating fire trucks and other heavy vehicles
• Checking, cleaning, and maintaining all fire gear and vehicles
• Teaching people about fire safety and helping train other staff
• Writing reports and keeping proper records of daily incidents
• Attending training drills, staying physically fit, and learning new skills
• Following all safety rules and making sure others do too
• Supporting team leaders and helping new recruits learn the ropes

Minimum Qualifications:

• Grade 12 / Matric certificate
• Firefighter II certification (IFSAC and NFPA 1001)
• At least 2–3 years of firefighting experience
• Valid C1 driver’s license with PrDP
• Hazmat knowledge and EMT or First Aid (Level 1–3)

Other Must-Haves:

• Physically and medically fit
• Great communication and people skills
• Clear criminal record
• Strong understanding of fire safety systems and procedures
• Able to react quickly and stay calm under pressure
• Comfortable using heavy equipment and working at heights
• Computer skills for reports and documentation
