What You Will Do as a Collection Agent

Your main job is to call customers who owe money and kindly ask them to pay back what they borrowed. This helps the company get money back and stops people from having big debts they can’t pay. You will try to understand why customers haven’t paid yet and work with them to find a solution.

Some things you will be expected to do every day:

• Collect money from customers who are late on their payments (60 to 90 days late).
• Get customers to promise when they will pay their debts.
• Help customers understand their payment plans and encourage them to pay on time.
• Meet daily targets for how much money you collect.
• Follow the company’s rules and use their call scripts when talking to customers.
• Look for ways to do your job better every day.
• Be polite and friendly, so customers feel respected.
• Make sure everything you write down about calls and agreements is accurate.

What You Need to Apply

To get this job, you should have:

• Finished Grade 12 or have an equivalent qualification.
• At least 1 year of experience working in collections in a call center.
• Good skills in talking and writing clearly.
• The ability to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
• A clean credit and criminal record.
• Basic computer skills like using email, the internet, Word, and Excel.
• Very good telephone manners.
