About the Job
As a First Line Manager (Packing) at Danone, you will be responsible for running and maintaining all production lines and managing your team on shift to meet key performance indicators (KPIs).
Key Responsibilities
1. Safety
- Maintain high housekeeping standards on shift.
- Identify, manage, and report safety hazards.
- Investigate and report safety incidents and accidents.
- Ensure adherence to safety regulations, procedures, and policies.
- Conduct safety training and talks as per guidelines.
- Communicate with the safety manager about near misses and accidents.
- Execute safety audits and implement action plans as required.
- Ensure production areas are clean and organized (5S).
- Make sure staff attend annual safety training and medical checkups.
2. Quality
- Ensure product quality by assisting operators in problem-solving.
- Produce within targeted customer complaints per ton.
- Follow quality standards, criteria, policies, and procedures.
- Complete all quality-related documentation.
- Adhere to HACCP and AIB protocols.
- Ensure adherence to food safety and quality principles, including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and hygiene practices.
- Identify and report potential food safety and quality deviations and hazards.

4. Delivery
- Understand and meet customer service expectations.
- Initiate projects to increase operations capacity to meet market demand.
- Deliver the required amount of high-quality products on time.
- Meet targeted Plant Service Level.
- Escalate and communicate when there are risks in meeting delivery requirements.
- Deliver targets within Good Manufacturing Practice principles.
- Conduct 15-minute team talks and proper shift handovers.
- Perform on-the-line maintenance.
5. Morale
- Motivate, engage, and inspire your team.
- Recruit and select team members.
- Provide continuous performance feedback.
- Drive communication within the team and conduct Damaway team briefings.
- Uphold company values and code of conduct.
- Manage attendance, timekeeping, discipline, and grievances.
- Ensure team members are trained and implement training plans.
6. Daily Production
- Review human resources required per shift.
- Ensure SQCDM boards are updated.
- Manage daily running of the production line.
- Keep systems like SAP updated.
- Discuss and implement action plans for production changeovers and CIP plans.
- Conduct routine quality checks by walking around the floor.
- Coordinate with the warehouse on shop orders and synchronize the production plan with the production planning scheduler.
- Conduct preventative and reactive maintenance with the support of artisans.
- Coach team members and direct routine maintenance of machines and equipment.
- Synchronize other departments’ requests on the line (e.g., trials).
- Perform short frequency line tours.
- Investigate and delegate root cause analysis on downtimes greater than two hours.
About You
Qualifications:
- National Diploma/Degree in Production Management, Operations, or equivalent.
Experience and Skills:
- 5-6 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in FMCG, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
