About the Cadet Pilot Programme

Safair Operations, trading as FlySafair, is offering an exciting chance to join their Cadet Pilot Level 2 programme. Successful candidates will train under the guidance of a Training Captain and will be exposed to one of the most respected aviation training programmes in the country. This opportunity is designed for individuals who are passionate about flying, willing to learn, and ready to commit to a challenging but rewarding journey in the aviation industry.

The cadetship programme prepares young aviators with ground school training, simulator practice, and flight instruction. Candidates will gradually develop the knowledge, discipline, and technical skills needed to progress from cadet level to a fully qualified First Officer.

What You Will Do in the Programme

As a cadet, you will:

• Take part in all training sessions including classroom work, flight simulators, and real flight instruction.
• Gain a deep understanding of aviation theory, aircraft systems, and safety procedures.
• Build your decision-making, problem-solving, and situational awareness skills.
• Follow all company rules, aviation regulations, and high safety standards.
• Show professionalism, discipline, and teamwork throughout your training.
• Keep detailed training records and attend feedback sessions with your mentors.
• Commit to continuous learning and self-study to improve your skills.
• Progress step by step until you meet the standards required to qualify as a First Officer.

Minimum Requirements to Apply

To qualify for these vacancies, candidates must meet the following requirements:

• Grade 12 or an equivalent qualification.
• Valid Commercial Pilot License.
• Valid Multi-Engine Instrument Rating.
• Valid Class I Medical Certificate.
• Flying hours:
  • 800–1000 total hours with 300 Multi-Engine Piston PIC hours, OR
  • 800 total hours with 200 Twin Turbine hours, OR
  • 1000 total hours with 300 PIC hours including SE Turbine & Twin Piston, OR
  • 700 total hours with Boeing/Airbus Type rating (including Level D simulator time).
• Must be free from medical conditions.
• Willing to sign a 7-year Training Bond.
• Must be a South African citizen with valid RSA ID and Passport.
• Own transport and a valid RSA Driver’s License.
• No criminal record and willing to undergo drug/alcohol testing.
• Strong knowledge of SACAA regulations, high-speed aerodynamics, and aviation systems.
• Understanding of South African weather conditions and good ATNS communication skills.
