About the Job:

As a Store Manager at Game Store, you’ll lead your team to create the best shopping experience for our customers. You’ll oversee sales, manage merchandising, and drive profitability by understanding our target markets. You’ll also develop strategies to improve store performance and boost team productivity.

Key Responsibilities:

Customer Experience:

  • Ensure all associates greet, thank, and help customers promptly and courteously.
  • Resolve customer queries and complaints quickly.
  • Make sure today’s work is done today (“sunset rule”).
  • Implement and enforce customer experience initiatives.
  • Develop action plans based on customer experience reports.
  • Ensure all associates are dressed according to company standards.
  • Equip associates with the necessary skills and product knowledge.
  • Focus on fulfilling customer needs to build strong relationships.
  • Maintain high service levels in all areas of responsibility.

Sales:

  • Analyze market trends and develop strategies to boost sales.
  • Create action plans to improve store sales performance.
  • Support, coach, and motivate teams to exceed sales targets.

Expenses:

  • Plan and maximize market opportunities to meet monthly turnover goals.
  • Monitor and control expenses like scheduling, overtime, and office supplies.
  • Manage and audit TK records, schedules, leave types, and clockings.
  • Ensure markdown processes and auction cost management adhere to company requirements.

Stock Loss:

  • Follow all security and risk compliance standards.
  • Adhere to high-risk policy and procedures.
  • Monitor stock take processes and maintain security to minimize shrinkage.
  • Implement stock take post mortem action plans.

Inventory Management:

  • Align stockholding levels with merchandising plans and sales performance.
  • Analyze merchandise movement to identify slow and fast sellers.
  • Handle aged or obsolete stock according to company procedures.
  • Maintain core stock and promotional lines.
  • Use SAP CAR reports to develop strategies to improve store performance.

Merchandise:

  • Implement space planning and maintain visual displays according to company standards.
  • Manage gap scanning and update displays for new product launches and seasonal themes.
  • Ensure correct labeling and signage according to the Signage Manual.

Leadership:

  • Enhance existing capabilities and develop new skills.
  • Train associates regularly to achieve required standards.
  • Coach and develop the team to meet store standards.
  • Complete individual development training packs (IDTP) and conduct one-on-one conversations.
  • Adhere to the performance improvement process (PIP).
  • Ensure proper onboarding of new associates.
  • Understand and execute disciplinary processes when necessary.
  • Manage recruitment, selection, and succession planning.
  • Foster collaboration between teams.
  • Uphold the organization’s values of integrity, customer service, excellence, and respect.
  • Achieve win-win outcomes in conflicts with limited resources.

General:

  • Maintain compliance in areas like OHASA, stock loss, and audits.
  • Ensure maintenance and housekeeping standards are met.
  • Conduct Management By Walk About (MBWA).
  • Be supportive, flexible, and assist with duties as needed.
  • Stay informed about retail developments near the store.

Requirements:

  • Qualifications: Matric (relevant tertiary qualification is a plus)
  • Experience: 5 years in retail, with senior management experience
