🟡 Minimum Requirements:
To qualify for this role, you must meet the following:
- ✅ Grade 11 or ABET Level (equivalent)
- ✅ MQA Competency B Certificate
- ✅ English communication skills – verbal and written
- ✅ Fluency in any of the 11 official SA languages
- ✅ Must be South African with a clear criminal record
- ✅ Must be declared medically fit by Gold One’s Occupational Health Centre
- ✅ Ability to work underground and adapt to shift rotations
- ✅ Physically fit, motivated, and able to work under pressure
- ✅ Must follow safety rules and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
🛠️ Key Responsibilities:
As an Assistant: General Underground, your duties will include:
- Working in a rotation of shifts, including night shifts
- Following safety procedures as trained by Gold One’s Training Centre
- Checking and reporting equipment conditions
- Practicing good housekeeping and ensuring a clean workspace underground
- Quickly reporting any issues that could affect work progress
- Assisting team members with underground tasks
- Ensuring full compliance with MHSA and Gold One’s safety motto:
“Nothing is so important that it cannot be done safely.”
