Gold One Mine Now Hiring: Rigging Assistants Wanted (No Matric Needed – Apply by 27 June 2025)

Gold One Mine Invites Suitable Candidates to Apply for Their Assistant Rigging Vacancies (X3 Posts). The Closing Date for Applications is 27 June 2025.

Gold One Mine is calling on hard-working individuals to apply for three Assistant Rigging positions in the Engineering Department. If you’ve worked in a mine or industrial environment and know how rigging works, this is your chance to join one of the leading mines in South Africa.

These positions are perfect for people with some hands-on experience who want to grow their skills and work in a supportive and safety-focused team. The company values hard work, dedication, and people who take pride in doing their job right — especially when safety is on the line.

Who Can Apply?

To qualify for this role, you must meet the following basic requirements:

  • Grade 11 or an equivalent qualification (You don’t need Matric).
  • 2 to 3 years of experience working in Engineering, preferably in a mining or industrial setting.
  • You should understand how to signal mobile cranes and be familiar with how these machines move and operate.
  • Know how to use different rigging and lifting tools properly.
  • Understand SWL tags (Safe Working Load) and name plates on lifting equipment.
  • Be physically fit — you’ll be lifting, bending, climbing, and handling heavy materials.
  • Be willing to work flexible hours, including Sundays, public holidays, and even doing standby duty.
  • South African citizenship is required.

What Will You Be Doing?

As an Assistant Rigger, you will work closely with the engineering and rigging team. You’ll help prepare equipment, attach heavy loads, and make sure everything is lifted and moved safely.

Your tasks will include:

Helping the Rigging Team

  • You’ll assist in moving heavy equipment, preparing them for lifting and transportation using tools.
  • Work side-by-side with the rigger, giving hand signals to mobile crane drivers, tying down loads, balancing them, and making sure everything is safe.
  • Help set up or fix rigging structures, such as hoists and support systems.

Safety Checks and Equipment Care

  • Inspect lifting gear (like slings and chains) to make sure nothing is damaged.
  • Make sure that lifting equipment like chain blocks and coffin hoists is clean, well-lubricated, and safe to use.
  • Check that SWL tags and nameplates are clearly visible on all equipment.
  • Help keep everything in good working condition, ready for use at any time.

Follow Rules and Keep It Safe

  • Stick to Gold One’s safety rules, company policies, and the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA).
  • Always remember Gold One’s golden rule:
“Nothing is so important that it cannot be done safely.”

Why You Should Apply

This is more than just a job. It’s a stepping stone to a solid career in mining and engineering. If you enjoy hands-on work, don’t mind getting a little dirty, and care about safety, this is the role for you.

You’ll be working with a professional team in a structured, organized environment. You’ll learn from experienced riggers and engineers and be part of projects that make a real impact underground and on the surface.

And remember: you don’t need Matric to apply. If you have the right experience and are ready to show what you can do, Gold One wants you on their team.

Don’t Miss the Deadline

Applications for the Assistant Rigging positions close on 27 June 2025. Prepare your updated CV, make sure your experience is clearly listed, and don’t leave this until the last minute.

Start your journey with Gold One Mine today — apply and be part of something strong, steady, and safe.
