What You’ll Be Doing as a General Foreman

As the General Foreman, your job is to run the site like a well-oiled machine. You’ll be working closely with site teams, clients, contractors, and managers to make sure the project is completed on time, within budget, safely, and to the highest quality standards.

Here’s what your daily duties will include:

Manage all site activities and make sure everything runs smoothly
Schedule tasks and organize teams on-site
Supervise workers and ensure everyone follows safety rules
Keep the project on track with time, quality, and cost
Order construction materials and equipment at the right time
Work with consultants, clients, and subcontractors
Make sure the final product meets high standards and project specifications
Ensure everyone follows the company’s Health and Safety (SHE) and Quality (QMS) policies
Develop your workforce and support a healthy, productive environment

What You Need to Apply

To be considered for this role, you must meet the following requirements:

Academic Qualifications:

Grade 12 (Matric)
Occupational Health and Safety Course

Experience:

15+ years of technical experience in construction
Leadership and people management skills
A strong track record of running successful projects

Statutory Requirements:

Statutory Appointment 7(8) Construction Supervisor

Soft Skills:

Must be able to work under pressure
Must be able to lead teams and deal with stressful situations
Strong communication and people skills
Able to handle relationships with clients, consultants, sub-contractors, and internal staff

Who Will You Be Working With?

As a General Foreman, you’ll report to the Contracts Manager or Site Agent, and you’ll work with a wide range of people including:

Clients – You’ll need to keep them updated and happy
Consultants and Engineers – You’ll work with them to follow plans
Subcontractors and SMMEs – You’ll oversee their work
Your Site Team – You’ll lead and support them
Internal Company Departments – You’ll coordinate with admin, safety, and procurement
