Who Can Apply – Minimum Requirements

To qualify for the Idwala Engineering Learnership Programme, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Completed Matric (Grade 12) with at least 40% in Mathematics and English.
  • Physical Science will be a strong advantage.
  • An N2 certificate with four or five subject passes in the relevant trade OR an NCV Level 4 qualification in an appropriate discipline.
  • Be between 18 and 35 years old and currently unemployed.
  • Be medically fit as required by the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) 29 of 1996.
  • Willing and able to work in a mining or heavy industrial environment.
  • Willing to work shifts if required.
  • Must be a South African citizen (preference will be given to applicants from Port Shepstone).

Responsibilities During the Learnership

Candidates who are selected will be required to:

  • Train and work in a mining and industrial environment.
  • Complete both theoretical studies and practical training.
  • Follow all health, safety, and environmental rules at all times.
  • Successfully pass assessments and evaluations to move forward in the programme.

This is a full-time commitment, and learners must be dedicated to completing the programme successfully.
