What’s the Learnership All About?

The iMas Insurance Learnership focuses on Long-Term Insurance, also called Life Insurance. As a learner, you’ll split your time between:

  1. Practical Work Experience
    You’ll work in the Sales and/or Administration departments and see how real business gets done. You’ll talk to clients, process documents, support the team, and help the company grow.
  2. Theoretical Training
    You’ll attend training sessions to learn about the insurance world, laws, ethics, and finance. The training is structured to help you pass your NQF Level 4 Insurance Qualification.
  3. Coaching & Mentoring
    You’ll be assigned mentors who will support and coach you during the programme, helping you grow personally and professionally.

What Will You Learn?

You’ll walk away with skills that most employers are looking for. Here are some things you’ll be trained on:

  • Research & Evaluation Skills
    Learn how to read, understand, and evaluate information used in the insurance industry.
  • Personal Financial Skills
    Understand how to manage your own money and financial risks.
  • Insurance Law & Ethics
    Know how to work responsibly and follow rules in the workplace.
  • Communication
    Improve your speaking and writing so you can deal with clients and colleagues.
  • Customer Service & Sales
    Build strong client relationships and learn how to sell and negotiate.

What You’ll Need to Qualify

Make sure you meet these requirements before applying:

  • You must have a Grade 12 certificate, with Maths and/or Accounting.
  • You must be unemployed right now.
  • You must not be studying or registered at another institution.
  • You must be available to start the programme on 1 September 2025.
  • You must be South African, and preferably from a previously disadvantaged background.
