Your Key Responsibilities

As a key player in our team, you’ll be responsible for driving our merchandise strategy and ensuring that Jet remains a leader in the retail industry. Here’s what you’ll be doing:

Lead the Buying Team: You’ll guide our buying team to develop and implement a merchandise strategy that aligns with Jet’s overall goals. Your leadership will be crucial in achieving the company’s sales targets and ensuring growth.

Drive Product and Trend Development: You’ll be at the forefront of product and trend direction, ensuring we meet the fashion, price, and quality expectations of our customers. This includes sourcing products that are both innovative and high-quality.

Manage Branded Partnerships: You’ll manage relationships with our branded partners, ensuring a balanced range of products and a win-win outcome for all parties involved.

Negotiate with Suppliers: You’ll negotiate terms with suppliers to meet our margin, service, and quality targets. Ensuring a reliable supply chain through effective supplier relationships is key.

Strategic Pricing: You’ll set competitive pricing strategies that attract customers while maintaining profitability. Balancing external price pressures with internal cost controls will be a crucial part of your role.

Stock Management: You’ll manage and control stock levels based on seasonal forecasts, ensuring our stores are always well-stocked.

Talent Development: You’ll ensure that your team is effectively resourced and developed, creating a pipeline of talent that supports Jet’s long-term strategy.

Ongoing Strategy Management: You’ll oversee the purchasing strategy and ensure optimal supplier performance and pricing.

Market Analysis: Staying ahead of market trends and consumer behaviors will be essential for anticipating demand and adjusting buying strategies.

Cross-functional Collaboration: You’ll work closely with teams across merchandise planning, marketing, store operations, and finance to align our buying strategy with the company’s broader goals.

What You Bring to the Table

Qualifications and Experience: You’ll need a Post Graduate Degree and at least 10 years of relevant experience, with a minimum of 8 years in senior management. Experience in buying/merchandising is essential.

Leadership Skills: You’ll have a proven track record in building and maintaining strategic supplier relationships and leading a purchasing function with innovative and creative thinking.

Analytical Abilities: Strong analytical skills are a must, as you’ll need to evaluate and drive key performance indicators such as sales growth and stock turnover.

Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required to influence and collaborate effectively at all levels of the organization.

Adaptability: You’ll need to be resilient in a fast-paced retail environment, comfortable working under pressure, and meeting aggressive deadlines.
