🛠 Job Description – What You’ll Do

As a Welder at Johannesburg Water, your main role is to handle welding and fabrication maintenance across different regions, including:

✔ Performing welding repairs at reservoir sites, sewer pump stations, and depots.
✔ Manufacturing custom and standard pipe components for the water and sewer systems.
✔ Inspecting, repairing, and installing pipes and metal structures (Y-pieces, T-pieces, manhole covers, step ladders, burst pipe clamps, and more).
✔ Assisting contractors and taking over projects as needed.
✔ Ensuring all welding equipment is in good condition.
✔ Following safety rules according to OHASA and SANS standards.
✔ Filling out work reports, checklists, and vehicle logs accurately.
✔ Handling heavy rigging and lifting of pipes and reticulation components.
✔ Responding quickly to call-outs, breakdowns, and emergency repairs.

This is a hands-on role where you’ll work both in workshops and on-site across Johannesburg!

📌 Who Can Apply?

🔹 Minimum Qualification:
✔ Grade 10 or N1 (NQF 2)
✔ Welder trade test certificate or NQF 4 Learnership

🔹 Experience Required:
✔ 3+ years experience in welding large pipelines
✔ Gas and Arc welding experience is a must
✔ Basic supervisory experience

🔹 Other Requirements:
✔ Valid Code 10 Driver’s License with PrDP
