Job Overview: Sweetbeet is seeking a Kitchen Hand to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting and assisting in various kitchen operations to ensure smooth and efficient food preparation while maintaining the highest hygiene standards. Key Responsibilities:
- Dish and Utensil Cleaning: Wash and clean all utensils and dishes, ensuring that they are stored appropriately in the kitchen.
- Equipment Cleaning: Clean food preparation equipment, floors, and other kitchen tools or areas to maintain cleanliness and hygiene.
- Spill Management: Respond quickly to spills and ensure immediate clean-up to prevent accidents.
- Waste Disposal: Dispose of rubbish according to proper procedures and maintain cleanliness.
- Chemical Handling: Ensure that all cleaning chemicals and products are used appropriately and stored safely.
- Adherence to Health & Safety: Follow all hygiene and health regulations in the kitchen environment.
- Food Preparation Support: Assist the chef in food preparation, following Sweetbeet’s standards for portion control, cooking, and minimizing waste.
- Menu Knowledge: Have a complete understanding of the ingredients in each menu item to ensure food quality and consistency.
- Quality Control: Ensure that all food served is of the highest standard and at the correct temperature.
- Equipment Maintenance: Ensure that all kitchen tools and utensils are clean and in good condition.
- Incident Reporting: Report any accidents, theft, or damage to the manager promptly.
- Efficiency: Perform tasks with speed and efficiency, maintaining a productive work environment.
- Uniform and Hygiene: Wear the prescribed uniform and maintain a high standard of personal hygiene at all times.
- Timeliness and Attendance: Be punctual and present for every scheduled shift.
- Training: Attend all mandatory meetings, training, and courses as directed by management.
Requirements:
- Matric Certificate (Grade 12).
- Fluent in English.
- Live within 15 km from the workplace for easy commute.
- Clear criminal record.
Preferences (Not Essential but a Plus):
- South African candidates are preferred.
- Experience in a kitchen environment is advantageous but not a requirement.
