What Makes This Internship Worth Paying Attention To

This is not just about adding months of experience to your CV. The Managed People Solutions Internship is designed to help you understand how the retail and merchandising industry works, while giving you hands-on tasks that build real skills. Interns will work as Junior Merchandisers, which is a key role in ensuring that customers find well-arranged products on shelves, correct pricing, and fresh stock.

The programme runs for 18 months, which means you get enough time to fully understand your role, gain confidence, and improve your employability. The stipend of R3 500 per month helps you cover your basic needs while you learn and grow in the workplace.

  • Check product quality
  • Ensure price tags are correct
  • Check stock rotation
  • Look at product vintage (especially for goods like beverages)

Completing Merchandising Activities

You will follow the merchandising cycle brief, execute your tasks according to plan, and make sure everything is recorded correctly. This includes:

  • Keeping records of merchandising activities
  • Following your call cycle
  • Giving feedback on customer complaints, questions, and requests

Communication and Product Knowledge

A big part of your job will be staying aware of current promotions, understanding product details, and helping customers or managers with information. You will also update your knowledge regularly to stay in line with what the store is offering.

Supporting the Regional Sales Manager (RSM)

You will notify the RSM about out-of-stock items and assist in ensuring the shelves always look full, neat, and customer-friendly.

These tasks will help you build confidence and learn how the retail industry functions behind the scenes.
