🛒 What You’ll Be Doing as a Merchandiser

This isn’t just any retail job—it’s the launchpad for your retail career. As a Merchandiser at OK Foods (through Smollan), you’ll be one of the people behind those perfectly stacked shelves, eye-catching product displays, and happy customer experiences.

Here’s what your day-to-day will look like:

Stock Management: Unpack products, count stock, manage shelf levels, and help with product rotations
Visual Merchandising: Make the store visually attractive—set up displays, posters, signs, and layouts that get customers interested
Product Maintenance: Remove damaged or expired stock, make sure items are priced correctly, and keep everything looking good
Customer Service: Help customers with questions, give product advice, and handle basic complaints
Teamwork: Work closely with sales and marketing teams to meet business goals
Store Cleanliness: Keep the floor and stockroom neat, tidy, and clutter-free

✅ What You Need to Qualify

You don’t need a fancy degree, but you do need a few basics:

Matric / Grade 12 certificate
Smartphone with at least 10GB storage
Vodacom SIM card (a must if you’re hired)
Valid ID, SARS Letter, and Bank Confirmation Letter
Live within 15km of the job location
A clear criminal record

Bonus if you also have:

Past experience in retail or merchandising
Good communication skills
Ability to work shifts and travel between stores
Teamwork and people skills
Age between 18 and 35 (preferred, but not required)
