What Is This Job All About?

As a Merchandiser at Shoprite LiquorShop, your main goal is to help make the store look amazing and well-organized, making it easier for customers to find what they’re looking for and boosting product sales.

This is a permanent, full-time job with 9-hour shifts, and it starts as soon as possible. You’ll work in different locations depending on the store’s needs, so you must be open to travel locally.

What Will You Be Doing?

Every day brings something new, but here are your main responsibilities:

Stock Management:

Count and track stock properly.
Unpack and neatly arrange products on shelves.
Make sure items are always available and easy to find.

Visual Merchandising:

Set up displays that catch the customer’s eye.
Keep the store looking sharp and organized.
Use signs and layout tricks to make shopping easier and more enjoyable.

Product Maintenance:

Check that products are priced correctly.
Remove damaged or expired items.
Ensure all shelves are full, clean, and well-maintained.

Working with Teams:

You’ll work closely with sales, marketing, and store managers.
Your teamwork will help the store hit its sales goals.

Customer Service:

Help customers with product questions.
Sort out complaints politely and quickly.
Always stay friendly and professional.

Keeping It Clean:

Keep the store and stockroom tidy and clutter-free.
Follow health and safety rules at all times.

What You Need to Apply

This is a great entry-level role, and many of the requirements are simple:

Must-Have:

Matric (Grade 12) certificate.
A smartphone with at least 10GB storage.
A Vodacom SIM card (required if you’re hired).
South African ID, SARS letter, and bank confirmation letter.
You must live within 15km of the store location.
A clear criminal record is a must.

Good to Have (but not required):

Experience as a Merchandiser, Sales Assistant, or in any retail role.
Good communication skills (English).
Ability to work well in a team.
Age between 18 and 65.
