Job Overview

Midas Gaydons is searching for a General Worker to join the branch in Pietermaritzburg . the purpose of the position is to perform general warehouse duties such as stock taking, binning, picking, packing, checking, moving stock, and ensuring that the warehouse is always clean.

Key Responsibilities

Inventory Management

Binning: Accurately bin incoming items and ensure inventory replenishment from bulk to pick areas as per procedures.

New Products: Allocate bin location numbers for new products in the correct areas.

Updates: Report and update your superior on bin changes and new stock allocations.

Replenishment: Assist with the replenishment process.

Receiving Goods: Ensure all incoming goods are checked according to company standards.

Order Fulfillment

Timely Picking: Ensure customer and branch orders are picked promptly to meet deadlines.

Bulk Locations: Pick from bulk locations only when necessary to prevent pack size breakage.

Instructions: Follow all work-related instructions from your superior.

Customer Satisfaction: Adhere to procedures to enhance customer satisfaction.

Stock Taking: Participate in stock take procedures.

Housekeeping: Perform daily housekeeping duties.

Double Checks: Conduct double checks to maintain high inventory accuracy.

Operational Targets: Consistently meet set operational targets.

Scanner Management

• Daily Issuance: Issue scanners to operators daily and book them out on the electronic app.
• Returns: Inspect and book returned scanners back into stock on the electronic app.
• Damage Reporting: Report any scanner damage to the supervisor.
• Record Keeping: Complete the daily scanner issue spreadsheet.

Qualifications and Experience

• Education: Grade 12, Literacy, and Numeracy equivalent.
• Experience: Preferably at least 3 years in a warehouse or logistics environment.
• Knowledge: Familiarity with spares, motor, and engine parts, as well as warehouse systems and procedures.

Skills and Attributes

• Efficiency and Accuracy: Must be efficient, accurate, and detail-oriented.
• Basic Skills: Numeracy and literacy skills are essential.
