A mixer truck driver is responsible for transporting and pouring ready-mix concrete at construction sites. This job is crucial in the building industry, and if you enjoy working outdoors and operating heavy-duty vehicles, this could be the perfect fit for you.
To qualify for this job, you must meet the following requirements:
✅ Education: Grade 12 certificate ✅ Driver’s License: A valid Code 14 (EC) with a Professional Driving Permit (PDP) ✅ Experience: At least 3 years of experience operating a concrete mixer truck ✅ Skills: Basic reading, writing, and math skills ✅ Health: Must be physically fit, have good eyesight, hearing, and speech ability ✅ Legislation Knowledge: Understanding of road transport laws ✅ Weather Flexibility: Be comfortable working in different weather conditions ✅ Medical Fitness: You must be medically fit to operate heavy-duty vehicles
As a Mixer Driver, your job will include:
✔ Checking your truck and mixer before starting your shift to make sure it’s in top shape ✔ Reporting any issues to the supervisor before hitting the road ✔ Keeping your vehicle clean and greased to ensure smooth operation ✔ Managing tyres to prevent breakdowns ✔ Driving safely to and from construction sites and transporting concrete as needed ✔ Following planned routes and making deliveries on time ✔ Checking for any faults and reporting them immediately ✔ Following all traffic rules and company policies ✔ Working overtime when needed ✔ Drilling the mixer drum occasionally for maintenance ✔ Performing other reasonable tasks assigned by your supervisor
