What Is This Job About?

This full-time job is about giving great customer service and making sure the store runs smoothly every day. As a Shop Assistant Cashier, you’ll help customers find what they need, handle payments, and keep the shop looking clean and organized. You’ll also work closely with the store team to make sure everything is in order.

Your work will mostly follow an 8-hour daily schedule, and the job is set to begin on 1 July 2025. Salary details will be shared with shortlisted applicants, and the position is permanent.

What Will You Be Doing?

Your daily tasks will include a bit of everything – from working at the till to helping restock shelves. Here’s what your job will look like:

Helping customers with their purchases and making them feel welcome.
Handling payments using a till or computer system (POS).
Answering phones and helping with product questions.
Keeping the store clean and shelves neat.
Checking prices and making sure everything looks good on the shelves.
Taking care of stock – unpacking new deliveries, rotating old stock, and restocking when needed.
Helping with daily store opening and closing routines.
Making sure the store is ready for customers every morning.
Assisting with counting stock during audits.
Making sure all tools and equipment are used safely.
Following all health and safety rules.
Handling both cash and card payments with care and accuracy.
Completing daily cash-up and banking duties.
Helping the team meet store sales targets.
Keeping an eye out for losses and finding ways to help the business grow.

Who Can Apply?

Have completed Grade 12 (Matric).
Be able to speak and understand English.
Live within 20km of Kimberley.
Have a clear criminal record.

What Kind of Experience Should You Have?

Refinery is looking for people who have worked in similar jobs before. You should have experience in at least one of these roles:

Retail Sales Assistant
Customer Service Agent
Salesperson
Store Assistant

You’ll stand out even more if:

You are between 18 and 35 years old.
You can speak Afrikaans.
You’ve worked directly with customers before.

You’re comfortable handling cash, credit, and debit cards.
