Minimum Requirements
To be eligible, you must meet the following requirements:
- Age: Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
- Certification: A valid certificate in Peace Officer and Traffic Warden training, with a course duration of at least 30 days.
- Education: Grade 12 (NQF Level 4).
- Criminal Record: A clean criminal record is mandatory.
- Language Skills: Ability to communicate in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape.
Key Responsibilities
As a Reserve Traffic Warden, your duties will include:
- Traffic Law Enforcement
- Follow instructions to ensure all traffic laws are upheld and that no parking violations occur. You’ll ensure regular parking rotation in key areas.
- Patrolling Duties
- Conduct both vehicle and foot patrols, focusing on central business districts and beach parking zones to ensure traffic and by-law compliance.
- Incident Prevention and Emergency Response
- Actively work to prevent incidents by enforcing by-laws and the National Road Traffic Act.
- Respond to emergencies and maintain detailed records of events in a pocket book for reference.
- Reporting and Accountability
- Submit regular reports on your activities and duties, following guidance from a senior team member.
