About the Role – Data Capturer

As a Data Capturer at Right to Care, your main responsibility will be to capture and maintain accurate HIV patient data across various facilities. This is a vital position that ensures patient records are complete and up to date, helping healthcare providers make better and faster decisions.

You will be working with digital systems like the LYNX APP, which helps manage patient information efficiently. Your work will directly support healthcare programs that save lives every day.


Key Duties and Responsibilities

1. Data Capturing:

  • Capture all relevant HIV patient data on the LYNX APP at the healthcare site.
  • Meet daily targets for the number of files captured or updated as agreed upon with your manager.
  • Record your daily work statistics to help your line manager track performance.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and handle all information responsibly.

2. Data Cleaning:

  • Compile daily Blitz Reports to track progress.
  • Help clean and verify patient data when required to ensure accuracy and completeness.

3. Skills Development:

  • Take responsibility for your own professional growth and learning.
  • Seek guidance from supervisors whenever uncertain about patient data or system use.
  • Attend all in-house training sessions to stay up to date with best practices.
  • Work closely with the data team to compile reports such as PEPFAR and Department of Health (DoH) reports covering areas like HIV, TB, PMTCT, Care, and ART.

4. System Support:

  • Assist the M&E Officer and Senior Data Capturer with their duties during periods of leave or high workload.
  • Provide backup support during staff shortages or when reporting deadlines are near.
  • Support with Data Management (DM) tasks when necessary to ensure smooth reporting.

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for these positions, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Matric certificate (Grade 12).
  • Post-matric certificate in computer literacy, including Microsoft Excel (or equivalent experience).
  • Basic understanding of HIV/AIDS.
  • At least 1 year of experience in data capturing.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

While not compulsory, the following will give you an advantage:

  • A post-matric diploma in computer literacy, including Excel (or equivalent experience).
  • 2 years of data capturing experience, especially in a health-related environment.
