What You’ll Be Doing as a Claims Officer

As a Claims Officer, your job will be to help manage cases that go through the legal system. You’ll work with lawyers, handle court files, and help make sure each claim is properly reviewed, fair, and closed as quickly as possible.

You will work in one of these departments:

• x10 in Settlement Hub
• x5 in Determination
• x5 in Mediation
• x5 in Litigation
• x5 in Payment Hub
• x5 in Merits
• x5 in Adjudication

Your Main Duties Will Include:

• Checking files and helping settle claims early
• Looking into each claim to see how much the RAF should pay
• Making sure claims are settled in a fair and cost-saving way
• Helping to figure out money owed for things like:
  • Lost income
  • Medical bills
  • Funeral costs
  • General damages
• Working with RAF attorneys to prepare for court trials
• Reporting on what happens during trials or when cases are settled out of court

You’ll also make sure all documents are there, appoint experts, check offers, and track everything in the system.

What You Need to Qualify

Education

You must have:

• A 4-year Degree in Law or similar
• Admission as an Attorney of the High Court or as an Advocate

Experience

• At least 3 years of work experience in a claims or litigation setting

Skills & Knowledge

• Know court rules and how litigation works
• Be familiar with how the RAF and other legal bodies work
• Be able to read and write legal documents clearly
• Understand stats and numbers related to claims
• Know how to use Word, Excel, and Outlook

Personal Qualities

• Handle pressure and emotions well
• Always act with honesty and fairness
• Be polite and helpful to clients
• Be good at teamwork and solving problems
