A Trainee Buyer is someone who helps select, buy, and manage products for stores. You’ll make sure the right goods are available in the right quantities, at the right time, and at the best price.

🎯 Key Responsibilities of the Trainee Buyer

In this role, you’ll be working closely with buyers, suppliers, and internal teams. Here’s what you’ll be doing:

• 📦 Plan and Build Product Ranges: Help decide which products should be stocked.
• 💰 Product Pricing: Assist with setting the right price for each product.
• 📝 Manage Stock & Orders: Make sure products are always available in stores and resolve any stock issues fast.
• 🔍 Product Reviews & Research: Keep up with market trends and competitor pricing.
• 🛍️ Merchandising Layouts: Help plan how products should be displayed in stores.
• 📣 Promotional Planning: Be involved in special deals and marketing events.
• 🧾 Admin Duties: Handle purchase orders, invoices, and day-to-day paperwork.
• 📊 Support the Buyer Team: Offer backup and support for the Buyer and Senior Buyer roles.

📚 What You Need to Qualify

Before you apply, make sure you meet the following requirements:

📘 Education:

• You must have a Degree or Diploma in Business, Finance, Logistics, Supply Chain, or any related field. This is essential.

🛍️ Experience:

• Some retail experience in a store or with suppliers/manufacturers is a bonus, especially if it’s in a pet store or similar retail environment.

🧠 Skills & Knowledge:

• Good with computers, especially Microsoft Office 365
• Experience with analytics tools is a plus
• You must be a fast learner, have good attention to detail, and be able to work in a team
• Strong communication and organizational skills
