What Is the Job About?

As a Cabin Crew member, you’ll be the face of South African Airways, responsible for the safety and comfort of passengers on board. Your job will be to:

  • Make sure every passenger enjoys a 5-star travel experience
  • Handle emergencies and medical situations confidently and calmly
  • Offer high-quality customer service, assist with seating, food service, and more
  • Ensure safety protocols are followed at all times
  • Represent the airline with professionalism, warmth, and care

You’ll also follow orders from the Senior Cabin Crew Member (SCCM) and Purser, manage passenger needs, handle onboard challenges, and promote the airline’s image.


Who Should Apply?

To qualify for this position, you need to meet the minimum requirements listed below:

✅ Basic Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 (Matric Certificate)
  • South African citizen with a valid South African ID
  • SACAA Cabin Crew License is required
  • Previously qualified on Boeing 737/738 aircraft (proof must be attached)

✅ Other Important Requirements:

  • Fluent in English
  • Able to swim confidently
  • Height: Minimum 1.58m
  • Body Mass Index (BMI) must be under 35
  • Must fit in an aircraft aisle comfortably
  • No visible tattoos
  • Able to operate from OR Tambo or Lanseria Airports
  • Must have reliable transport
  • Must be well-groomed, confident, and independent

Knowing an additional foreign language is a bonus!


Key Responsibilities You’ll Take On

In your role as Cabin Crew, you’ll be expected to:

  • Protect the safety of passengers and crew at all times
  • Handle medical emergencies and resolve any conflict onboard
  • Communicate with flight deck crew, passengers, and fellow crew members
  • Keep the aircraft clean, organized, and compliant with regulations
  • Provide professional service with a warm smile
  • Follow company rules and aviation standards
  • Report any issues or non-compliance to the Purser or Commander

You’ll also help in keeping the crew motivated and focused and be part of a team that delivers an unforgettable experience to every traveler.
