The Spitz Group invites suitably qualified applicants to apply for a Warehouse Supervisor Vacancy at Spitz in Isando, Johannesburg. The position is suited to experienced warehouse and distribution professionals who have at least 3 years of warehouse experience and 2 years of staff management experience. The closing date for applications is 2 October 2026.
This is a senior warehouse position for someone who can lead a team, manage stock movement, monitor performance and help keep daily warehouse operations running smoothly. The successful candidate will report directly to the Warehouse Manager and will be responsible for approximately 10 employees.
Here are the main details of the opportunity:
Spitz has a long history in South Africa. The business started with a single store in Johannesburg CBD in 1968, opened by Anthony and David Spitz.
Over the years, the company has grown and become known for selling exclusive international brands through its stores.
The warehouse plays an important role in making sure products move from receiving areas to the correct locations and are available when needed. The Warehouse Supervisor will help manage this process and make sure warehouse employees meet the required standards.
The main purpose of this position is to make sure goods are moved accurately and on time.
The role covers inbound stock and other warehouse activities. It also includes staff planning, leave planning, reporting, performance management and dealing with workplace issues.
This is therefore a position for someone who is comfortable taking responsibility and managing people.
The supervisor will also need to work closely with the Warehouse Manager and provide updates about warehouse performance, stock problems and employee matters.
A large part of the role involves managing daily warehouse operations.
The Warehouse Supervisor will be expected to make sure stock is received accurately and on time.
Other responsibilities include:
The supervisor must also ensure the warehouse meets its required inventory and audit standards.
The advert specifies an inventory error tolerance adherence target of 95% and 99.95% adherence to internal audits.
This role includes responsibility for approximately 10 direct reports.
The Warehouse Supervisor will need to help employees understand their responsibilities and make sure individual performance targets are agreed upon and measured.
Training is also part of the role. Employees need to have the necessary skills to perform their work, while the training records and matrix must be kept up to date.
The supervisor will also need to deal with performance issues when they arise.
The Warehouse Supervisor will also be involved in controlling labour costs.
This includes planning employee leave around the busy and quieter periods of the business.
The supervisor must compare labour requirements with inbound stock volumes to make sure there are enough employees available without using more labour than the operation requires.
Time and attendance must also be monitored. Where problems are identified, the supervisor will be expected to take corrective action.
Good reporting is another important part of the position.
The Warehouse Supervisor must publish daily performance reports so that warehouse activity can be monitored.
The supervisor will also be responsible for completing and accurately publishing the Order Control Report (OCR) every day.
Weekly Spitz Health Checks must also be followed.
These reports help management understand what is happening in the warehouse and where problems may need attention.
Safety is a major responsibility for anyone managing a warehouse team.
The successful candidate must help maintain a safe working environment with the aim of achieving zero injuries on duty.
The supervisor will also need to make sure employees follow uniform standards and are issued with the correct uniforms.
Housekeeping standards must be maintained throughout the warehouse, including areas such as:
Material Handling Equipment, commonly called MHE, must also be inspected every day. These inspections need to be accurately recorded.
