What This Role Is About

The Training Officer will play a major role in helping employees gain the knowledge and practical skills they need to perform safely and effectively. You’ll be responsible for planning, delivering, and evaluating various training programs — especially those related to Operating Surface Mobile Machinery. This means you’ll be teaching learners how to handle heavy equipment, improve their technical skills, and understand workplace safety.

You’ll also help create learning materials, ensure training programs meet company goals, and make sure all safety standards are followed according to the Health and Safety Act. Your guidance will directly help improve job performance and safety within the company’s projects.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

If selected, your day-to-day duties will include:

  • Designing and developing engaging learning materials and training methods.
  • Leading and organizing skills programs focused on mobile machinery and wet trades.
  • Training and assessing learners while conducting practical, on-the-job training sessions.
  • Making sure all health, safety, and environmental (SHE) standards are met and maintained.
  • Tracking and reporting learner progress and ensuring assessments follow ISO standards.
  • Supporting the company’s broader learning and development goals.
  • Ensuring all programs meet CETA and legislative requirements.

This role requires someone who can teach with patience, communicate clearly, and motivate learners to reach their potential.

Required Qualifications and Experience

To qualify for the Stefanutti Stocks Training Officer role, you must meet the following requirements:

  • CETA Registration as a Facilitator, Assessor, and Moderator for:
    • Construction Plant Operations
    • GETC: Construction
  • ETDP Statement of Results and Provider Certificate for:
    • 115753: Conduct outcome-based assessments
    • 115759: Conduct moderation of outcome-based assessments
    • (115755: Design and develop outcome-based assessments will be an added advantage)
  • Educational Requirement: Matric/Grade 12 or equivalent NQF level 4 qualification. (An OD ETDP qualification will be advantageous.)
  • Experience:
    • At least 5 years of experience in operating mobile construction plant machinery.
    • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in training within the mining, building, or construction sectors.
  • Additional Skills:
    • Good computer literacy.
    • Strong communication skills in English (both written and verbal).
    • Solid knowledge of statutory legislations and workplace safety.
    • Excellent mentoring and coaching abilities.
    • A valid Code 10 (C1) driver’s license.
    • Willingness to travel when needed.
