Stodels Nurseries Is Looking for Parking Security Staff

Stodels Nurseries invites suitably qualified applicants to apply for their Parking Security Vacancy at the Kenilworth Garden Centre. This opportunity is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with people and providing excellent customer service while helping keep the parking area safe and organized.

The position will report directly to the Support Services Manager and will involve assisting customers, monitoring vehicles, and ensuring the parking area operates smoothly. Candidates who are friendly, observant, and willing to assist customers will be well suited for this role.

If you enjoy being outdoors, interacting with people, and helping maintain a safe and welcoming environment, this job could be a great opportunity.

Work at One of South Africa’s Popular Garden Centres

Stodels Nurseries is a multi-award-winning garden centre known for providing quality plants, gardening products, and helpful customer service. Many people visit Stodels to shop for flowers, plants, garden supplies, and home décor.

Because the garden centre attracts many visitors every day, the parking area must remain organized and safe for customers.

The Parking Security role is very important because it helps ensure that customers can park easily, feel safe while shopping, and receive assistance when needed.

What a Parking Security Officer Does

The Parking Security role involves more than simply watching vehicles. It includes customer interaction, parking assistance, and helping maintain order in the parking area.

This position requires someone who is observant, friendly, and able to communicate clearly with customers.

Below are the main duties expected from the successful candidate.

Greeting Customers as They Arrive

One of the first responsibilities of the Parking Security officer is welcoming customers when they arrive at the garden centre.

A friendly greeting helps create a positive first impression and makes visitors feel welcome.

Employees in this role should:

  • Smile and greet customers politely
  • Provide helpful directions if needed
  • Assist visitors who may need help finding parking

Good customer service is a key part of this job.

Directing Vehicles to Available Parking Bays

Parking areas can become busy, especially during weekends or peak shopping hours.

The Parking Security officer helps direct vehicles to available parking spaces to keep traffic flowing smoothly.

This includes:

  • Guiding drivers to empty parking bays
  • Helping reduce congestion in the parking area
  • Ensuring vehicles park safely and correctly

Good organization helps improve the shopping experience for customers.

Watching Over Customer Vehicles

Another important duty is monitoring parked vehicles to prevent theft or damage.

The Parking Security officer must stay alert and watch for any suspicious activity in the parking area.

This helps ensure that customers feel confident leaving their vehicles while they shop inside the garden centre.

Monitoring and Protecting Trolleys

Shopping trolleys must be kept safe and available for customers.

Parking Security staff help watch over trolleys to prevent:

  • Theft of trolleys
  • Damage to trolleys
  • Misuse of company equipment

This responsibility helps keep operations running smoothly.

Supporting Trolley Assistants

Parking Security officers also work together with trolley assistants to ensure trolleys are always available for customers.

This may involve helping collect trolleys or ensuring they are placed in the correct areas.

Teamwork between staff members helps maintain efficiency in the parking area.

Assisting Customers With Loading Purchases

Sometimes customers may need help placing items into their vehicles. The Parking Security officer may assist customers with loading goods into their cars.

This may include using boot liners to protect the vehicle during loading.

However, this assistance excludes Stobel staff, as specified by the company guidelines.

Providing this help adds to the customer service experience at the garden centre.

Keeping the Parking Area Clean

Clean environments create better experiences for visitors. The Parking Security officer also helps keep the parking area neat and tidy.

This includes:

  • Sweeping the parking area
  • Picking up litter
  • Ensuring the area remains organized

Maintaining cleanliness helps create a welcoming environment for customers.

Supporting Daily Operations

Parking Security officers may occasionally be asked to assist with other duties assigned by senior management.

These tasks help ensure that the garden centre continues to operate smoothly and maintain high customer service standards.

Flexibility and willingness to assist with different tasks are important qualities for this role.

Personal Qualities Needed for the Job

This role requires someone with a friendly personality who enjoys interacting with customers.

The ideal candidate should have:

  • An outgoing and extroverted personality
  • A passion for customer service
  • Good communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • The ability to stay alert and observant

Because the job involves interacting with customers throughout the day, being approachable and helpful is very important.

Why Customer Service Matters in This Role

The parking area is often the first place customers interact with staff when they arrive at a business.

A friendly and helpful Parking Security officer can make customers feel welcomed and comfortable before they even enter the store.

Good service at this stage can leave a positive impression and encourage customers to return in the future.

Employees in this role develop skills such as:

  • Customer communication
  • Parking management
  • Observation and safety awareness

These skills can help employees grow into other roles in security, retail, or customer service.
