If you’ve been looking for a retail job that can open doors and help you grow, this could be your sign. The Crazy Store is known for being fast-paced, fun, and busy — which means you’ll learn quickly, gain experience, and build confidence in customer service.

This position is perfect for someone who enjoys working with people, is always ready to help, and can stay positive even when the store gets hectic.

What Is This Job About?

The Crazy Store is looking for a self-motivated and hardworking person to join their team as a 48 Hour Shop Assistant. This is a part-time role (48 hours), but it still gives you a serious chance to grow in retail, especially if you work hard and show commitment.

Why this job is a good opportunity

Working at The Crazy Store can help you gain:

  • Strong retail experience
  • Customer service confidence
  • Cashier and stock handling skills
  • Teamwork and communication skills
  • Opportunities for internal growth

Job Title: 48 Hour Shop Assistant (The Crazy Store)

This role is all about helping the store run smoothly and making sure customers leave happy.

What you will do as a Shop Assistant

You’ll be responsible for supporting customers and making sure the store looks clean, organised, and ready for shoppers.

Minimum Requirements (Make Sure You Qualify)

Before applying, check if you meet these requirements:

Education Requirement

  • Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent qualification

Experience Requirement

  • Minimum 6 months retail experience (essential)

This means if you have worked at a clothing store, supermarket, shop, kiosk, or any retail environment, you qualify.

Personality and Work Skills Needed

The Crazy Store wants someone who is:

  • A team player
  • A good communicator
  • Friendly and respectful
  • Strong in customer service
  • Positive and energetic
  • Willing to learn and help where needed

Duties and Responsibilities (What You’ll Be Doing Daily)

The work in retail is not the same every day — sometimes it’s busy, sometimes it’s quiet, but the store must always be ready.

Customer Service (Most Important Part)

You will:

  • Provide friendly and efficient service
  • Assist customers with questions
  • Help customers locate items in the store
  • Guide customers when they want to buy products

A good Shop Assistant makes people feel welcome, even if the customer is difficult.

Store Cleanliness and Presentation

Retail stores must always look clean and attractive. You will:

  • Keep shelves neat and tidy
  • Maintain clean displays
  • Ensure checkout areas are clean and organised

This is important because customers trust stores that look clean and professional.

Stock and Merchandise Handling

You will assist with:

  • Replenishing shelves
  • Checking if products are running low
  • Ensuring items are displayed properly
  • Making sure stock is neatly packed and priced

Pricing and Product Presentation

You’ll also help make sure the store looks appealing by ensuring:

  • Products are labelled correctly
  • Prices are displayed properly
  • Items look neat, not messy

Cashier Duties

You may be required to:

  • Operate the cash register
  • Process transactions accurately
  • Handle payments correctly
  • Give the correct change

This means honesty and accuracy are very important.

Following Store Rules and Safety

You must follow:

  • Store policies
  • Safety procedures
  • Loss prevention guidelines

This includes being alert and reporting anything suspicious.

Extra Duties

Like most retail jobs, you may be required to do extra tasks such as:

  • Helping colleagues
  • Supporting general store duties
  • Doing ad hoc duties when needed

If you are the type of person who says “that’s not my job”, then retail won’t work for you. Retail needs people who can help wherever needed.

What The Crazy Store Is Looking For (How to Stand Out)

Many people apply for shop assistant roles. To stand out, your CV should show:

Important skills to include

  • Retail experience
  • Customer service skills
  • Cashier experience (if you have it)
  • Stock packing / merchandising
  • Communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to work shifts/weekends (if applicable)

If you have served customers before, mention that clearly. If you’ve handled money, mention that too.

Important Application Notes

The Crazy Store made it clear:

Shortlisting notice

  • Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.

If you don’t hear back

  • If you are not contacted within 2 weeks after the closing date, your application was unsuccessful.

This is normal in retail recruitment because they get many applications.

Closing Date Reminder

Applications Close: 29 January 2026
Closing Time: 16:30 (4:30 p.m.)

Please don’t wait until the last minute — jobs like this usually get a lot of applications quickly.
