Key Responsibilities of the Role

As a Learning & Development Administrator, your job will go far beyond paperwork. You’ll be a central link between the company, learners, service providers, and compliance bodies. Here are some of the main tasks you will handle:

1. Training Coordination

  • Plan and manage training programmes across different regions.
  • Work with accredited service providers to ensure training meets standards.
  • Align training interventions with the company’s Workplace Skills Plan (WSP).
  • Keep updated training calendars for smooth scheduling.

2. Compliance & Reporting

  • Assist with the submission of the Annual Training Report (ATR) and WSP to SASSETA.
  • Prepare records for audits such as ISO and BBBEE.
  • Ensure every training record is accurate and audit-ready.

3. Learner Management System (LMS)

  • Administer online learning courses and upload training materials.
  • Record learner attendance and keep digital records updated.
  • Ensure data integrity across all platforms.

4. Learnership Programme Support

  • Help source learners for SETA-accredited programmes.
  • Coordinate induction sessions and prepare learner documentation.
  • Manage compliance documents for BBBEE and SETA reporting.

5. Records Management

  • Maintain both electronic and manual training records.
  • Ensure all files are up to company policy and ISO standard.

6. Stakeholder Engagement

  • Liaise with trainers, departments, and external partners.
  • Provide regular updates on training attendance and learner progress.

Skills and Competencies Needed

To thrive in this role, you need strong administration and coordination skills. Here’s what Thorburn Security is looking for:

  • Good communication and teamwork skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with Learner Management Systems (LMS).

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • Matric (Grade 12) – this is non-negotiable.
  • A diploma or degree in Human Resources or a related field will be an added advantage.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a similar HR or training administration role.
  • Practical knowledge of LMS (Learner Management Systems).
  • Experience in dealing with SETA, WSP/ATR, and BBBEE processes.
