Transnet is calling on dynamic, qualified graduates to apply for its Young Professionals in Training (YPT) Programme for 2025. Applications close on 19 August 2025.

About the Programme

The Transnet Young Professionals in Training Programme is a structured, full-time, two-year development initiative. It combines workplace learning, mentorship, and formal training to help graduates gain the skills and confidence they need to succeed in their chosen fields.

As a participant, you’ll be placed in one of Transnet’s divisions based on your qualifications and career interests. You’ll work on real-life projects that directly impact the movement of goods, services, and resources across South Africa.

This 24-month journey blends theory with hands-on experience, ensuring you’re fully prepared for future roles in the logistics and transport industry.

Position: Young Professionals in Training Programme
Location: Durban Central
Employee Group: Trainee
Duration: 24 months


What You’ll Do

As a Young Professional in Training, you’ll:

  • Work alongside experienced professionals, learning how the business operates
  • Attend meetings, workshops, and training sessions
  • Communicate with customers to understand their needs and update them on progress
  • Resolve queries quickly and professionally
  • Provide administrative, research, and general support to your team
  • Take work instructions from your mentor or specialist and deliver high-quality outputs
  • Collaborate with colleagues on projects, producing solutions that meet client needs

Qualifications You’ll Need

To apply, you must have one of the following:

  • BCom Honours Degree in Marketing, Economics, or Logistics
  • Law Degree (Corporate and Governance)
  • Degree in Financial Information Systems
  • National Diploma or BCom Degree in Internal Auditing or Accounting

Other requirements:

  • 0–1 year work experience (graduates welcome)
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • South African citizenship
  • Age between 18–35
