🎯 Job Purpose

As a Port Worker, your main duty is to assist with cargo operations and maintain a safe, clean working environment. You will be responsible for various tasks, including loading, unloading, cleaning, and inspecting cargo and equipment.

⚙ Key Responsibilities

If you are selected for this role, you will be expected to:

✅ Clean operational equipment – ship-to-shore cranes, cabins, and other machinery
✅ Inspect cargo – check the condition of containers and report any issues
✅ Assist with cargo handling – load and offload goods following safety procedures
✅ Open and close rail wagon twist-locks for smooth cargo operations
✅ Hook and unhook cargo for transport
✅ Tarp and untarp cargo when required
✅ Remove and place dunnage to protect cargo
✅ Clean operational areas, rail trucks, workshops, and offices
✅ Fill out necessary reports (e.g., accident reports)

💡 No experience? No problem! Training will be provided for candidates who meet the basic requirements.

📜 Minimum Requirements

To qualify for this job, you must meet the following:

🔹 With Matric (Grade 12 / NQF Level 4)

✅ Minimum 1 year of terminal experience

🔹 Without Matric (Grade 10 / NQF Level 2)

✅ Minimum 2 years of terminal experience

🔥 Skills & Competencies Needed

📌 Knowledge of

• Terminal Layout – Understanding where different sections are in the port
• Safety Procedures – Following strict rules to prevent accidents
• Stack Positions – Knowing how to properly organize cargo
