Key Responsibilities of the Role

As an apprentice, you will:

• Assist in the installation of machines in workshops.
• Perform repairs and maintenance on buildings and machines.
• Conduct mechanical fault finding and repairs on electro-hydraulic and motorized equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance (PMs) and report defects.
• Take part in mechanical overhauls, modifications, and equipment upgrades.

Who Can Apply?

Minimum Qualifications:

• NTC2 certificate with four relevant trade subjects passed.
• Technical National Certificate Vocational Level 4 or higher with at least seven subjects passed.
• Technical Matric Certificate including Pure Mathematics, Physical Science, and relevant trade theory.
• All subjects must be passed with a minimum of 50% or above.

Additional Requirements:

• Applicants must be South African citizens.
• No obligations with other bursaries or organizations.
• Preference will be given to youth under 35 years old and those with outstanding academic results.
• Applicants must possess strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills, along with a solid understanding of safety protocols.

• Training will take place at the relevant Transnet Faculty of Engineering Campus.
• Upon completion, permanent employment is not guaranteed, as this program is a training opportunity.
• Applicants must arrange their own accommodation and transportation before, during, and after the apprenticeship.
