What You’ll Do as a Warehouse Assistant

As a Warehouse Assistant, your job is all about helping the team manage stock, move items safely, and keep everything running smoothly in the warehouse. Here’s what you can expect to do on a daily basis:

Health & Safety

Follow all health and safety rules while you work.
Help keep the workplace clean and safe for everyone.
Join safety meetings and help fix any safety issues quickly.

Stock & Delivery Work

Receive, pack, move, and deliver goods as needed.
Handle things like scrap material and inventory rotation using the FIFO method (first in, first out).
Use tools like SAP to update stock information and help with bin checks, stock counts, and labeling.
Keep storage areas neat and tidy using 5S housekeeping rules.
Report any broken items, damaged stock, or issues to your supervisor right away.
Help out with keeping track of stock reports and suggest ways to improve the system.

What You Need to Qualify

To get this job, you should have the following:

Grade 12/N3 Technical Certificate
A Supply Chain or Logistics certificate (NQF4) is a big bonus
Valid driver’s licence (Code B)
Licences like Forklift, Reach Truck, O/H Crane, or Truck are an advantage

What Experience Should You Have?

You don’t need years and years of experience, but having the following will really help:

2 to 3 years working in a warehouse or doing similar work
Basic computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SAP
Able to manage time and tasks in an organised way
Can solve problems and suggest better ways of doing things
Know how to follow warehouse rules and procedures
