Job Purpose

To effectively execute all activities, operations, and interventions related to all fields within the operational policing environment. This ensures effective and efficient service delivery in the City of Tshwane metropolitan area. The role involves taking charge of operational shifts and handling requested ad hoc duties.

What’s the Job About?

As a Warrant Officer, you’ll play a key role in ensuring effective and efficient service delivery in the City of Tshwane. You’ll be responsible for various policing activities and operations, making sure everything runs smoothly. This includes taking charge during shifts and handling special duties as needed.

What You Need to Apply

  • Education: You must have a Grade 12 certificate.
  • Certification: You need to be registered as a Traffic Officer under the National Road Traffic Act, 1996.
  • Experience: At least four years of relevant working experience.
  • Driver’s License: A valid Code B or EB driving license.
  • Fitness: You must pass a medical and physical test as determined by the Chief of Police.
  • Clean Record: No criminal convictions or pending charges (excluding previous political-related activities).
  • Oath of Office: You must be prepared to take the Oath of Office of the Tshwane Metro Police Department.
  • Flexibility: Be willing to work anywhere in Tshwane as required by the department.

What You’ll Do

As a Warrant Officer, your main duties will include:

  • Law Enforcement: Enforcing the National Road Traffic Act, by-laws, and conducting patrols, roadblocks, and other operations.
  • Crime Prevention: Performing actions to prevent crime through visible policing.
  • Accident Response: Attending and securing accident scenes.
  • Traffic Management: Ensuring safe and smooth traffic flow during incidents on public roads.
  • Complaint Handling: Supervising and managing complaints related to animals, noise, traffic, etc.
  • Professional Duties: Executing all duties professionally and efficiently according to procedures and policies.
  • Supervision: Supervising road policing, crime prevention, and municipal by-law actions in Tshwane.
  • Escort Duties: Assisting with and supervising escort duties.
  • Team Supervision: Overseeing all activities within a unit.
  • Additional Duties: Performing any ad hoc duties as requested.
